Two matching black urn tattoos with snake and leopard motifs

Matching Urn Tattoos

Did this pair of companion urns as facing mirror pieces. One carries a snake and skull cartouche, the other has a resting leopard inside the body of the urn. I gave both the same banded silhouette and leafy crown so they read as a matched set even when viewed separately.

Heavy blackwork carries the urns and a small traditional lady head finishes one of the pieces at the base. Matching work is hardest when the silhouette has to agree but the content can differ. A flat, predictable canvas helps a pair like this age in step rather than drifting apart over the years.

If you and a partner or mate want matching pieces in Wellington, flick me a message and we'll work them up together.

Common Questions About Blackwork in Wellington

Does blackwork hold up better than colour?
Generally yes. Solid black ink stays denser and more legible over decades than colour, which can soften and shift. If you want something that still reads clearly in twenty years, blackwork is the safest long-term bet.
How long does a blackwork piece take?
Small blackwork pieces run one to two hours. A palm-sized graphic piece is usually a single sitting of two to three hours. Larger panels (forearm, calf, back placements) are typically booked across multiple sessions.
Can blackwork cover an old tattoo?
Often yes. Bold blackwork is one of the strongest cover-up languages going, especially over faded line work. Send me a clear photo of the existing piece in your DM and I can plan around it.
